We’re pioneering research to find solutions. We’re empowering families with programs, knowledge and tools to have healthier pregnancies. By uniting communities, we’re building a brighter future for us all.

Programs & Services Offered

  • Outreach programs and prenatal education materials and information are available to the community.

  • NICU Family Support Specialist program provides emotional and educational support to families whose babies are in the NICU and to moms on bed rest at Nebraska Medicine and CHI Health CUMC Bergan Mercy Hospitals.

  • Educational materials and referrals provide a wide range of resources for patients and their families.

  • Professional education opportunities are offered for medical professionals who specialize in obstetrics and premature birth.

  • Patient advocacy and innovative medical research are an essential part of promoting the health of women, children and families.

  • Parent dinners and discussion groups are held at Nebraska Medicine and CHI Health CUMC Bergan Mercy hospitals.

  • An annual Prematurity Summit focuses on continuing education for maternal child health nurses, as well as Professional Education for all nurses and other healthcare workers.

  • Group prenatal care for moms to be is offered in central Nebraska.

  • Annual educational baby showers provide for military moms of Offutt AFB.

Did You Know?

  • Every three hours, a baby in Nebraska is born prematurely. Babies who are born too small, too soon, may die or suffer life-long health consequences.

  • Each year, there are more than 410,000 premature births nationwide; there are more than 2,600 premature births in Nebraska.

  • The cost associated with premature birth in the United States is approximately $26.2 billion each year.

  • Women of color are twice as likely to have birth complications or die during birth due to our countries worsening health equity gap.

  • For the 5th year in a row, the prematurity rate has risen, and the US continues to be one of the most dangerous countries to have a baby.

You Can Help

  • $50 gives a month’s supply of diapers to a military family.

  • $50 celebrates and educates moms-to-be in communities of need and provides them baby items like swaddles, breast pumps, baby thermometers and other essential items.

  • $50 supports programs that include resources to help moms and moms-to-be quit smoking.

  • $75 provides a newborn screening for a baby in a hospital through our advocacy work.

  • $75 funds one hour of innovative prematurity research.

  • $100 provides essential baby items such as a stroller or pack ‘n play for women who complete a prenatal education program.

  • $200 supports a NICU family at their bedside to help them navigate the challenges of having a preterm baby.

  • $300 showers a military mom with essential baby items and celebrate and educate her and her family.

  • $500 helps 5 families feel at ease in the NICU with support and education.

  • $1,000 provides four moms-to-be access to our Supportive Pregnancy Care program where they receive prenatal care, support and education throughout their pregnancy.

  • $2500 helps 10 women access quality prenatal care.

  • $2500 provides on-demand training for staff at one hospital on topics to improve care and support, including easing parent trauma in the NICU and caring for the caregiver.

Dollars at Work

  • More than 1,000 people were exposed to March of Dimes programs while in the NICU.

  • Support Pregnancy Care began in Hasting, NE in 2021.

  • More than 100 nurses and other healthcare workers received educational materials at the Prematurity Summit and professional education seminars given by March of Dimes.

  • Thousands will use March of Dimes online support programs and utilize free information and resources on our website.

  • Over 100 healthcare providers received professional education for Implicit Bias Training in 2021.

  • Over 150 families and NICU staff received Meals That Matter in 2021.
